General Information


When it comes to hosting an event, you want everything to be perfect. At Columbus Centre, our banquet halls are ideal for lunch or dinner venues in the Thunder Bay area. Any dishes not shown on the menu can be arranged to your satisfaction with the help of our manager. The menus shown are suggestions. We can prepare a custom menu for you. Tables are set with linen tablecloths and paper napkins. Linen napkins are available for a rental fee of $0.75 per person. They are available in white only. The staff will complete the table setting for you, including pouring wine for toasts. Decorating the tables is the responsibility of the party holding the function. The hall can be set up in several different arrangements to accommodate the type and size of your function.

Centre Regulations & Policies

All functions must end by 1:00 AM.

Guests must vacate by 1:30 AM.

Sparkles, glitter and/ or confetti may not be used.

Decorations

No decorations and/ or banners may be attached to the walls or ceilings.

Open flame candles must be enclosed.

Extension cords will not be supplied by the Columbus Centre.

Damages to the premises and/ or equipment is the responsibility of the sponsor and will be payable upon demand

Late-Night Service

Late-night snacks are available at your request

Cold cuts, buns & butter, pickles - $3.00 per person


Coffee service, using Styrofoam™ cups and stirrers, can be provided:

  • Coffee to be served at 11:00 PM - $60.00
  • Coffee to be served all night - $80.00

If you are planning on serving cake later in the evening, you must supply paper plates, plastic forks and napkins. The staff will prepare only the service table for you. You will have to make your own arrangements to have the cake cut and served.

Bar

The Centre’s bartenders are required at all functions where liquor is served.


You may supply your own Special Occasion Permit. Only the alcoholic beverages listed on the Permit are allowed. The Permit must be posted and a copy must be provided to the office. Homemade wines must also be listed on the Permit. Corkage fee is $2.75 per person.

Columbus Centre Bar

The Columbus Centre can provide the bar for you using our liquor licence. Included in the prices (shown below) are fountain mixes, tonic water, juices (orange, clamato and tomato), ice, glasses and bartenders. Bar prices also include the HST. For Bar Sales less than $450.00, a bartender fee of $12.00 per hour will be added to your invoice.

Cash Bar (guests pay for individual drinks)

Liquor - $4.75/ oz, Beer - $4.75/ bottle

Wine - $4.75/ glass, Wine - $23.00/ 750 ml. bottle

Fountain drinks - $1.25 per glass/ bottled water

Host Bar (where the host is paying for the reception)

Liquor - $150.00/ 40 oz bottle

Beer - $110.00/ case
Wine - $23.00/ 750 ml. bottle
Liquor - $4.75/ glass
Beer - $4.75/ bottle
Wine - $4.75/ glass
This includes glasses, ice and fountain mix.

Juices available upon request:

Orange - $3.00/ 1 litre tetrapak

Tomato - $2.50/ 1.36 litre can

Clamato - $5.50/ 1.36 litre can


Cash Bar and Host Bar sales under $450.00 are required to pay a bartender fee of $12.00 per hour or $110 per evening.

Bartender Fees

  • 1 bartender per 120 guests.
  • 3 bartenders if there are 300+ guests and you wish to use the small bar as well as the main one.
  • Cost per bartender is $110.00.

At Columbus Centre, our services are great for any business or family events. From our first contact, we’ll deal with every requirement professionally and work towards making your day memorable. While we can prepare any meal that you have in mind, we’d like to let you know that we specialize in Italian cuisine. Should you have dietary requirements such as vegetarian or gluten-free food, we’re happy to accommodate your request. Whether you are looking for a buffet, full dinner or lunch service, or would like a pickup service where we’ll cook and you’ll pick up the food, we can handle it all. Our services are ideal for all events and venues including:

Booking Arrangements

A deposit of $350.00 is required on booking.


If the event is cancelled, the deposit is refundable only if an alternate rental is obtained for the date. 

  • 3 weeks prior to the function - Menu and hall set-up is to be arranged with the office.
  • 1 week prior to the function - Final count for the number of guests attending must be given. Our manager can assist you in determining the number of meals required. Also, for wedding receptions, your estimated invoice will be prepared 1 week prior and 80% of invoice is to be paid with the balance being paid after the reception. 

Your bill is prepared on the first business day following the function, based on the guaranteed count given one week before. All accounts are due within 7 days. There is a charge of 2% per month for overdue accounts. NSF cheques are subject to a service charge of $20.00.

All prices are subject to HST 13%. Prices are subject to change without notice. Gratuities are not included in your bill. That is left to your discretion.

Evenings (5-1 AM) – $400.00

Weekends (Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday) – $700.00 


Small Hall

Weekdays, during the day – $60.00

Weekends (Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday) – $150.00
